Douglas R. M. Nazarian was appointed Chairman of the Maryland Public Service Commission by Governor Martin O’Malley effective August 16, 2008. His term runs through June 30, 2013. He serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and as President of the Eastern Interconnection States’ Planning Council. He also served from 2008-11 on the Board of Directors and Advisory Committee of the Organization of PJM States, Inc. (“OPSI”), and as OPSI President in 2009.
Doug joined the Commission in 2007 as General Counsel after fifteen years as a litigator, the last twelve with Hogan & Hartson L.L.P., where he also served as partner in charge of the firm’s Baltimore pro bono practice. He earned a B.A., cum laude, from Yale College in 1988, a J.D. with honors from the Duke University School of Law in 1991, and clerked for The Hon. James B. Loken of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
